Backed by a clinical ecosystem
Sightera is located at the Darwin incubator on Science Park Antwerp, close to the University of Antwerp and Antwerp University Hospital. As a spin off, this gives us direct access to the clinical, biological and technical infrastructure needed to run our platform. A dedicated biobank collects, stores and clinically annotates patient material within established consent and governance frameworks, and fresh samples from heavily pre-treated patients can reach the lab within hours, allowing us to establish organoid models from clinically relevant, treatment-resistant disease. Early-phase clinical trial expertise is available locally, creating a direct link between the patient populations used to build our models and future clinical studies, while oncologists, surgeons and pathologists are involved in patient selection, tissue collection and clinical study design.
